Dance

I hope you never lose your sense of wonder

You get your fill to eat but always keep that hunger

May you never take one single breath for granted

God forbid love ever leave you empty handed

I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean

Whenever one door closes I hope one more opens

Promise me that you'll give faith a fighting chance

And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance

I hope you dance.

I hope you never fear those mountains in the distance

Never settle for the path of least resistance

Livin' might mean taking chances

But they're worth takin'

Lovin' might be a mistake

 But it's worth makin'

Don't let some hellbent heart leave you bitter

When you come close to sellin' out, reconsider

Give the heavens above more than just a passing glance

And when you get the choice to sit it out

or dance...

I hope you DANCE.

(You never have been one to sit it out.)

I love how you DANCE through life.

One Word

Therefore, my beloved brothers, be STEADFAST, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.
1Corinthians 15:58

Just one word.  Not a list of resolutions.... things I do for two months and then they fizzle.  I can't really handle the list.  Andy makes a list every year.  He checks it twice and lives up to it...for the most part.  I love that about him.  I hate that about me.

For the past two years, I have just chosen one word for the new year.  You can read about those here and here.  In my life, I am learning the secret of resting in Him...whatever comes our way.  And boy, do those things COME OUR WAY.  On this blog, I share the happies.... the moments in life that bring joy.  I suppose I could share the hardships and the disappointments and the things in life that stink.  But I don't.  That's why it's called "Joy Making Days."  This life is temporary. The older I get, the more we face, the more I understand that, and the more grateful I am of it's truth.  SO this year I choose a word that He's already been sowing into my life:  Steadfast.

I long to be steadfast in my prayer life... going to Him with every step.  I long to be steadfast in my service.  I hope to be steadfast in the endeavors He turns my heart to.  I wish to be steadfast in my devotion to my husband and marriage.  Steadfast...immovable, always abounding in His work, His plans, His purpose.  Grateful for the promise that when it's for Him, it's not in vain.

Steadfast.

Happy New Year, Everyone!
