Dearly Loved

chosen, holy, dearly loved

Last week I asked my students what "dearly" meant.
One little princess raised her hand and answered, "I think it means like.... really, really close."

Perfect.
I have thought about that all week.

God loves me "really, really close."

"therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved..."  colossians 3:12

Today's Blessings

Andy rose and left for work as if it was a regular work day (Praise God from Whom all blessings flow!) so I hopped up to make his lunch and kiss him goodbye.

I had a delightful morning "catch up" conversation with my sweet mother-in-law who is currently in Huntsville holding my newborn niece. (jealous.)

My girls slept until 10ish.

Around 11 we scooted out the door for a girly wedding shower for the lovely Miss Mallie Settle and ate yummy sausage balls and tiny quiches and had some delightful fellowship with lots of friends.

When we left we spontaneously decided to take a little drive over to Pendleton.  We found a little rummage store and ventured in.

I came home with my first set of vintage sheets (3 bucks!) for future quilting projects, a collection of vintage wooden spools for mere pennies and a pair of $1 vintage reading glasses that just so happened to be just my size.

I am sure that the little store's owner is still scratching his head wondering what he was thinking giving me that little wooden stool for such a steal.  I left dreaming up ideas for how to cover the seat.  ahhhhhh.

We raced back to Anderson to get Caroline to church for a Saturday afternoon practice in preparation for a little DOZ dance they are doing for Worship tomorrow.

Rebecca and I had a little bite to eat together and a sweet chat.  She asked,

"Momma, when you were little, what kind of house did you want to live in?"

I thought about it and answered,

"I wanted a little old charming house, to marry someone just like your daddy... and I wanted a girl!... one who I could take shopping and share dreams over lunch."

The sun is beaming outside, but the temp is as it should be this time of year.

We are listening to old Susan Ashton tunes.

My girls are  currently cleaning out their rooms for yard sale junk and singing at the top of their lungs.... I suppose I should get off this computer and go start my own stash!

Glimpses of a Pink Sky

Dr. Seuss

I thoroughly enjoyed my third graders today.  I made an effort to really pay attention when they were telling me things (Teachers do it too, Mommas!) and found their thoughts to be quite enjoyable.

I got a new Dr. Seuss mug from Mrs. Mary Long (a treat from Disney World!) and promptly poured my piping hot coffee into it to enjoy.  Coffee tastes so much better out of a cute mug that your friend brings you as a treat!

I had a delightful conversation with my friend, Jean, about the season finale of Downton Abbey... and we shared all our favorite parts.

I got a call from my husband with  "good news" of his day.

My girls and I got a little walk in at the AnMed track and we all laughed so hysterically that we about peed in our pants.

I enjoyed my friend, Whitney, and her "happy dance" in the parking lot of the church as we took a brief moment to catch up and share the details of our crazy days.

I picked one child up from church and left and came back an hour and a half later to drop another one off for Youth Group and I all of the sudden felt that overwhelming emotion of gratitude that I am "that mom"...the one who drives up and down the road to drop kids off here, there, and yonder.

I went to the store for some milk, saw about four friends (I love that about our little town), and came out to a pink sky.... beautiful.

I got in the car to my favorite tune on a new CD by one of my new favorite artists....a valentine treat appropriately titled "Heart".

This morning, I decided to ask God for His plans for the day instead of my own and (go figure) His plans turned out to be alot better.
